2002 - The Fastway plant and mixer truck were driven to Homer, barged, across Cook Inlet to Williamsport, truckedĀ over the mountains to Pile Bay, and barged across Lake Iliamna to the village of Iliamna to produce 125 yards of concrete for the health center. The contractor supplied local aggregates with cement getting shipped in super bags.
Spring 2007 - ACT shipped Fastway plant and 2 mixer trucks by barge and concrete pump by air to New Stuyahok, 60 miles up the Nushagak River from Dillingham to produce and test 1200+ yards of concrete for a school, some in below freezing conditions. All materials were supplied by contractor.
As manager of Davis Concrete Inc., Terry used a computer-controlled Rex Lo-Go 5 portable batch plant with mixer trucks to produce 2000+ yards of concrete and grout for the tunnel expansion project in 1999. All equipment and materials were brought in by rail and pours had to be done during the night.
ACT shipped a Fastway batch plant and 1 mixer truck by ferry from Homer to Sand Pt, on Popof Island, near near the end of the Alaska Peninsula for these 2 projects, about 2 years apart. The Community Center took about 200 yards and the Health Clinic took about 400 yards. The contractors on both projects provided local aggregates, with super bags of cement shipped in along with admixes. ACT provided batching and quality control services.
For projects with local aggregates and 100 + yards, our FastWay batch plant along with 1 or 2 conventional mixer trucks works well. The plant can be towed with a pickup and travels well on barges and ferries.
